On 4 May, after much anticipation, a number of IB Y10 and 11 representatives were finally able to meet and play host to their Kazakh counterparts once again through live Internet streaming. SIPFLS has had an ongoing partnership with the Nazarbayev Intellectual School, Kazakhstan, and holds one or two online exchange sessions annually.

This time round, the focus was to have a spontaneous oral exchange based on the DIY videos made on selected topics made by each side. On the IB side, students who went on recent CAS community service trips to Thailand and HongKong prepared short videos featuring their time there and some lessons learnt. Similarly, the NIS students also made clips on diverse subjects, sharing their efforts at conserving electricity for their school as part of their Green initiative, alocal App featuring the many historical and cultural monuments in the country, and a simple but interesting Biochemistry experiment to prove that egg shells accentuate plant growth because of the calcium content.

Through sharing the videos, both sides had ample opportunity to converse with one another in English. There was enthusiasm and curiosity from both sides as they raised numerous questions about the activities shown in the videos, and the session proved fruitful and enjoyable.
