IB 2018-2019 First PD Session

IB高中部2018-2019 学年首次职业发展培训


On 22nd August, We IB staff had the first day of professional development session at Ling Feng Mu Gu resort. After about 40 minutes ride to the final destination, The official session started at around 10 am. This session was mainly held by IB principal, Mr. Joel, who firstly released our IB results of our first batch and welcomed the new staff who joined us this academic year .Clear missionwereset  of  this academic year ahead and the Committee Plan was Finalised .

2018822日,IB高中部的员工在灵峰牧谷农场展开了本学期首次职业发展培训活动。培训于上午10点正式开始。IB高中部萧校长首先和大家一起回顾了首届IB大考的成绩并且介绍和欢迎了新员工,设定了新学期的目标,并分配各个部门的主要职责及负责人等等。


The main agenda of the morning professional development session focuses on strategies to improve classroom learning. The teachers looked at the various approaches to learning (ATL) and each subject group came together to discuss on the ways in which we can incorporate them into our lessons. The ATL skills are thinking skills, social skills, communication skills, self-management and research skills. These are essential skills to inculcate in our students to better prepare them for university.

第二天培训的着重点在于如何提升课程学习效果。老师们共同讨论了多种学习方法(ATL),各学科组也在组内会议上探讨了如何把这些技能融汇到课堂中去。这些技能包括思考技能、社交技能、交流技能、自我管理技能和调查技能。这些技能的习得会帮助我们的学生更好地适应大学生活。


The next part of our professional development is facilitated by the TOK department where they introduced the subject to help the teachers understand and develop ideas that teachers can use in their lessons. The session was carried out in an intriguing manner where thought provoking videos and ideas were presented to the audience to trigger discussions.

在下午的培训中,TOK 的老师向大家介绍了课程的框架和基本理论,并且帮助老师们养成跨学科的理念,以备后用。在启迪人心的视频和想法的辅助之下,整场培训气氛热烈,参与度极高。


The school started an initiative, “Self-reliance”, which encourages students to be more resilient and independent individuals for the society. During the professional development, teachers had an opportunity to participate in various on-site activities, such as cookie making, canoeing, feeding animals, etc. By experiencing the on-site activities first hand, it allows teachers to think about how they can integrate the activities to their subjects as part of this initiative. A session was conducted for teachers of the different subject groups to brainstorm on the possible activities and mini-projects.

这次职业技能培训的亮点是在于所有的培训内容都紧密结合了学校养活教育的先进理念。鼓励全体师生养成诚实,勤勉有爱心,不走捷径的品质。老师们也有幸参加了许多实地的活动。比如烘焙、皮划艇、动物饲养等等。这些活动也帮助老师们思考如何将“养活教育”的理念融合到日常的教学。晚间的培训环节,所有的学科组教师展开头脑风暴,合力策划了众多与养活教育的理念一脉相承的活动和项目。


On the last day , our session was kicked off by Murdoch, our new EE coordinator. He provided valuable information on how to guide our Y12 and Y11 students in the EE writing, one of the core components of the IB Diploma. After his presentation, he met with all the EE supervisors to check for updates on Y12 students.

最后一天,我们的会议由默多克,我们的新EE协调员拉开帷幕。他提供了很多关于EE的宝贵信息,主要集中在如何指导十二年级和十一年级学生的EE写作,而EEIB的一个核心组成部分。演讲结束后,他聚集了所有的EE指导老师,跟进了十二年级学生的论文进度。


In the afternoon, the IB Department Staff Team travelled from back to SIP to enjoy a scrumptious lunch hosted by Principal Oliver Li at Xie Tang Street.

下午,IB部门员工团队从灵峰牧谷农场返回园外,在斜塘老街共同愉快地享用了一顿由李校长招待的丰盛午餐。
