IB First Parents-Teachers Meeting
The first parents-teachers meeting was held on 13th Nov between 2.30 – 4.30pm. The session kicked off with the Principal giving an update of the academic and co curricular activities since the beginning of the term. Parents received a copy of the mid-semester progress report and gave positive feedback on the programme. One parent noted how her child had shown a dramatic change in attitude since joining the programme, and gave credit to all the staff for their ongoing efforts in nurturing and coaching the students. The ensuing meetings between parents and individual subject tutors were largely positive, as parents were appreciative of the additional reading and other resources recommended, and most were willing to partner with teachers to guide and encourage their children in their self- study when they return home for the weekend. They acknowledged that in the transition from middle to high school, a leap in the level of difficulty is inevitable and students must take it upon themselves to work hard and make the grade. The staff reassured parents of their commitment to helping those with special learning needs and remedial sessions are already in place for candidates who are weaker in specific subjects.
The next Parent-teachers session is scheduled for the end of the first semester in January.
