让“环保”与“艺术”同行----记高中课外社会实践活动


11月12日,高中部IB-AP十年级的学生经历紧张的考试周后,前往苏州尹山湖、明美术馆和金鸡湖景区进行了艺术鉴赏与社会服务活动。本次活动在提高学生课程活动丰富度的基础上,旨在培养学生合作能力、环保意识和社会服务意识。

On the 12th of November 2020, the Year 10 IB-AP high school cohort embarked on a learning journey to Suzhou Yin Shan Hu Art Gallery, Ming Gallery, and the Jinji Lake scenic spot. Through this post-exam activity, students gained a greater understanding of Art, and cultivated environmental awareness, civic-mindedness and social service consciousness.

                                               

十年级IB、AP与SADP班的学生分成两组,各自在4位老师的带领下,进行了此次活动,A组由IB和SADP班学生组成,B组由AP班学生组成。

Students were divided into two groups, group A and B, and each group was led by 4 teachers. Group A was composed of IB 10 students and SADP students. Group B was composed of AP 10 students.

早上九点,学生们准时从学校出发,两组学生分别前往明美术馆和尹山湖美术馆。中国(苏州)国际粉画双年展和印象江南·全国工笔画作品展最近分别在明美术馆和尹山湖美术馆开幕。在参观展览的过程中,学生对不同形式、手法的艺术作品有了更深入的了解,提高了他们的审美能力和创造能力,培养了他们的艺术情操。十年级学生杨申如说“无论是细腻的工笔、轻盈的水彩、重彩的油画、淡雅的粉画。当我看着它们的时候,我好像在和它们交流。当我听到潺潺的流水声、山间的蝉鸣鸟叫声时,我仿佛遇见了自己,重新发现了自我,治愈了自己。

At 9am, Group A students departed for the Ming Art Gallery where they learnt about different painters, styles such as Impressionism, and mediums such as Gouache.

Our Y10 student Sarah enjoyed the learning journey immensely, and shared her sentiments after visiting the Impression Jiangnan exhibition at Yin Shan Hu Art Gallery:

“The meticulous brushwork, light and airy watercolor, thick and heavy oil painting touched me. I can almost hear the flowing streams, and the songs of the birds and cicadas just by viewing these art works. I uncovered a new appreciation for art and nature.”


在参观完展览后,两组学生前往金鸡湖景区进行3公里的徒步活动,他们从不同的地点出发,一路捡拾沿途的垃圾,净化环境。对捡拾的垃圾,同学们也仔细认真分类,最后丢弃到对应的垃圾桶。沿途的公共自行车点,大家也没有“放过”:擦净公共自行车的车座、把手;扶正歪斜倒下的自行车。金鸡湖李公堤景区有好几处坡度较陡的桥,看到推车上桥困难的老人,学生们主动上前帮忙。活动中,学生说道:捡起一个烟头、扶正一辆自行车、帮助一位上桥的老人都是一些微不足道的小事,但是通过我的双手,能够让周围的环境变得更好,我很开心。

After visiting the exhibition, the students went to Jinji lake scenic spot for a three kilometers walk. They set out from different locations, picked up the litter through their walk, cleaning the environment. Students also carefully classified the garbage and disposed them to the corresponding trash bins. They also cleaned the community-sharing bicycles along the way. There are several bridges with steep slopes in the scenic area of Ligongdi at Jinji Lake. Students volunteered to help when they see the elderly facing difficulty getting up these slopes. Some students said, “Picking up cigarette butts, cleaning bicycles, helping the elderly cross a bridge are all trivial things, but through my help, I can make the environment and society better. I am very happy.”


学生在金鸡湖景区的湖滨草坪上享用了午餐,在洒满秋日暖阳的金鸡湖畔,和同学吃着美食,聊着人生,似乎考试周的压力也随着眼前的美景得到了释放。

 

During the excursion, students had a picnic lunch on the lakeside lawn of Jinji Lake scenic spot. They ate delicious food and talked about life with their classmates under the warm autumn sun. It seemed that the pressure of the recent mid-terms exams was released upon being surrounded by the gorgeous scenery.

每一颗接触艺术的心灵都会被点燃。 这次活动不仅搭建了艺术情感体悟和创造性思维的沟通桥梁,也是IB-AP项目倡导全人教育,鼓励学生将自身兴趣和CAS精神以及十大培养目标相结合的真实再现。

Everyone can be moved by Art if they have the opportunity to learn about it. This excursion has provided such a chance, which helps our students cultivate their artistic sentiments as well as creative abilities. The IB-AP program emphasizes on well-rounded development of student interests and integration between disciplines, CAS, and not forgetting the importance of IB Learner’s Profile.


这次活动充分体现了学校教育理念“养活教育”。在活动中,学生不仅锻炼了身体、提高了垃圾分类意识;也通过自己的行动来美化身边的环境、为和谐社会献出一份力量。

 

This excursion highlights the educational philosophy of our school, “Self-reliance Education”. On top of the physical training our students went through during the walk, they also have an increased awareness on the topic of recycling and trash classification. They learnt to appreciate and beautify the environment around them, contributing positively to create a harmonious society.
